With over 20km seaside, composed by a variety of pitfalls, calanques and sand beaches, La Ciotat will charm you with its old fisherman haven, its 17th century architecture and overall Mediterranean atmosphere. Here in 1895 the famous Lumière brothers, inventors of cinema, shot their famous scenes titled “L'arrivée d'un train en gare de La Ciotat”. Hence the oldest cinema of the world can be considered still existing since its at the Eden Theater of La Ciotat that was projected for the first time this “movie” back in September 1895. Not to be forgotten is the panoramic road named route des crêtes where you'll find an outstanding view of the entire bay. Also worth the visit is Parc du Muggel with luxurious vegetation and pedestrian paths. |
