The VAR is located at the south of France.
The department is located at the edge of the Mediterranean sea and it's a part of the area "Provence-Alp-Coast of Azure". It is located between the Rhône delta, the Vaucluse, Alp-of-High-Provence in north and of the seaboard Alps.
In the edge of Mediterranean Sea, this area has a moderate climate. The prefecture of the department is in Toulon and under prefecture is Draguignan. The principal hills and mountains are: the "Maures", the "Sainte-Baume", the mountain of Lichens.
With a Mediterranean climate, the VAR is accustomed to hot heats.
Tourism is one of principal sources of income but this department is also devoted to the following productions: flowers, fruits and wine. With a diversity of landscapes, the richness of its historical and cultural inheritance, but also its craft industry, its traditions and its gastronomy, the VAR is a department very famous and much sough-after by the French and foreigners.
